Made good use of the Best Rate Guarantee (BRG) for hotel another time, we claimed a very cheap stay celebrating the beginning of my Christmas holiday.

Using the trick of BRG which matches the lower rate I found on other websites plus a compensation of USD50/ claim, we got a stay at USD11.91 only! (around HKD96)

Birthday family stay -YHA Mei Ho House @Hong Kong

Using the trick of BRG which matches the lower rate I found in other websites plus a compensation of USD50/ claim, we got a stay at USD14.67 only with breakfast included! (around HKD117)

YHA Mei Ho House Youth Hostel was located at Shek Kep Mei, a bit of walk from the MTR station. Even it is named as a hostel, there is a variety of room types to choose from catering the needs of single travellers (dormitories), couples (Double rooms) or even family (Family Ensuites). 

Maybe it was the peak hour when everybody checked in and out the hostel, we had been waited for a while for our turn at the reception. Nevertheless, it didn't impatient coz every corner of the hostel looked interesting and unique to us. 

Hong Kong 1 day trip - Shing Mun Country Park

Had great fun hiking with my friends at weekend. We tried the Shing Mun Country Park, which is one of the most famous monkeys mountaina in Hong Kong.

From Tsuen Wan MTR Station, Exit C, we took 15 minutes walk to Shui Wo Street taking minibus 82 and alighted at its terminal below Shing Mun Reservoir. The Pineapple Dam was just right there. It is a smaller dam of the Shing Mun Reservoir, noticeable by its country park sign that looks like an ancient city gate. Its name comes from the pineapples that many Hakka villagers grew here when they settled in the area. 

Hong Kong 1 day trip - Discovery Bay

Wanna go to Discovery Bay for long but had no excuse to visit there as it was quite far away. It came to my boyfriend's last single birthday in January. With me having a half day work, I decided to just having a nice dinner there by the seaside, where we could watch the fireworks of Disneyland from there together.

There are 2 ways to get to Discovery Bay, either by bus or ferry as taxi and cars are not allowed to get into the area. Finally, we chose taking bus from Sunny Bay to Discovery Bay. (HKD10/ person) The bus terminal is just right next to the Sunny Bay train station.

Hong Kong 1 day trip - Kai Tak Cruise Terminal

Went for a picnic at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal Park. It was located on the roof at the site of the former Kai Tak Airport, which is now a cruise ship terminal. 

Just opened last month, the Park is equipped with various amenities including a central lawn, a viewing platform, water garden and fountain plaza and more. It can said to be an oasis in the city as there are rarely park like this around this area. 

We prepared some sandwiches, mashed potatoes and cold macaroni salad at home. Then we headed to Kowloon Bay MTR Station to shop for more food and drinks. From there, we took minibus 86 to the park directly. 

We had a great time under such good weather.

Hong Kong 1 day trip - Tai O

Visited Tai O yesterday. Took the MTR to Tung Chung then there will be buses going through all places on Lantau Island. Took bus number 11 at Tung Chung Bus Terminal near Ngong Ping 360. It costs HKD$11.8/person on weekdays and  HKD19.2/person during holiday. It took about 45 minutes to there.

Hong Kong 1 day trip - Sai Kung

Wanna try a cafe in Sai king for a long time. Was attracted by this little cafe because the decorations made it alive and full of joy. Took a train to Hang Hau MTR Station first then minibus number 11A and got off outside Sai Kung Sportsground. Walked around the pier and there were many people going on a boat trip. There were many stalls with people selling boat tickets to Hong Kong Geopark. Wanna go there but we didn't have enough time.

Hong Kong 1 day trip - Tap Mun

Grass Island is a place not has been developed yet. You can feel like you are very much closer to the nature there. It was my second time going there. The most convenient way to get there is taking a train to University Station, then walk 10 minutes to Ma Liu Shui Pier and got a ferry (HKD28) to Tap Mun.

Hong Kong 1 day trip - Wetland Park

Woke up early today coz we were gonna spend a whole day in the Hong Kong Wetland Park. Took a train to Tin Shui Wai Station and than interchanged Light Rail 705 or 706 to get there.
