Weekend escape @Shenzhen

Making good use of the Best Rate Guarantee (BRG) for hotel, it was much cheaper to plan some weekend getaways as the cost of hotels drops significantly.

This time we chose to stay at Luohu Holiday Inn Express, which was 10 minutes walk away from both Laojie Station and Hongling Station. Again, I used the trick of BRG which matches the lower rate I found in other websites plus a compensation of USD50/ claim, I got stay at USD9.16 only! (around HKD73)

Agoda's offer: USD59.16- USD50 compensation= USD9.16

Arriving at Shenzhen, we took the metro to Laojie Station, headed to the holiday from the nearest exit. It was effortless getting there in 10 minutes except the weather was extremely hot.

Didn't set the alarm clock. Just woke up naturally and did our wash up. Went down for the buffet breakfast. There was a mix of Chinese and western dishes. The most surprising thing was having dimsum and instantly cooked noodles. No wonder the online reviews are mostly positive.

Saw an attractive package promotion on E&E Tours website. Staying in Marco Polo Lingnan Tiandi Foshan with breakfast and transfer was only HKD560/ person. Wanna take a break at the beginning of the busy school term, so decided to spend a weekend there chilling out with Lawrence.

We got on the coach in Kwun Tong early in the morning. It took around 3 and a half hours to get there, so we bought some breakfast to eat on board and got some sleep.

Woke up late and just got 30 more minutes for breakfast. The breakfast was way better than what we expected. I especially like the pancake and those pastries.

Too much workload for me in busy June and really needed a break. Bought a voucher from Travelzoo for Crowne Plaza package with breakfast and buffet dinner included for 2 (HK$999 only), and most importantly, we were upgraded to Superior Suite, which cost around HK$1,300. Had a feeling that got more then we paid already!

Woke up and finished the cheese cake we bought last night as breakfast. Didn't want to leave the comfy room at all! So stayed until 11 half then check-out for lunch.

As my friend Becky is working in Shangri-La, we got discount booking the hotel in Futian. It is the first time for me living in a 5 stars hotel in Shenzhen instead of at massage centre!

Headed to Dongmen and did some shopping first. Then took the train to 購物公園 coz we were having dinner at 巴蜀風月.

Address: 福田中心區福華三路星河國際大厦2樓西側 (near COCO Park)
It mainly provides Sichuan cuisine which is really fantastic. We ordered 7 dishes and It only cost us RMB350!

Joined a tour by Miramar Travel to Guangzhou with my family during Chinese New Year. The price went up to almost HKD3,500/ person in this period. Really crazy!
So we got there early in the morning by coach from Prince Edward. After several hours of travelling, we arrived at the first tourist attraction 松山湖. It is just like an Eco Park with nothing else to do...

Short trip to Castfast Hotel, Donguan

Bought a 2-day package to Castfast Hotel Donguan which included a one-bedroom suite, tickets for Long Feng Villa and 60-minute foot massage coupons. (HKD900 for 2) Not much expectation coz of the reasonably cheap price, but end up it was surprisingly great!

It was the first time living in a service apartment. Really spacious and cozy though the kitchen was actually useless coz there was no utensil at all. Couldn't cook there as well.
