Phuket Retreat Day 5

31/7/2014

Itinerary of today:
Breakfast @Coffee Mania
Phuket Dog @Yoshitomo Nara
Patong Beach
Lunch @Banzaan Fresh Market
Big C
Sala Phuket Resort and Spa
Turtle Village
Dinner @The Coffee Club
Supper @Swensens

Woke up early in the morning and we were determined to have local food for breakfast. Drove around Patong area and bumped into this cozy restaurant. Changed our mind and ended up having a western styled breakfast instead. Ordered a set of chicken cheese sandwich (130 bahts) and a set of all day breakfast (190 bahts). Everything was just perfect especially with the freshly made orange juice.

Looked for a fiberglass sculpture of an over-sized dog known as Phuket Dog by a famous Japanese artist Yoshitomo Nara for a while. Was delighted to be able to find it but felt disappointed as it looked worn and old. Anyway, love the art by Yoshitomo Nara so much that  shouldn't miss to see it.

It was windy with a bit of clouds. As we were not keen on doing water sports, we decided to laid back and did some sunbathing and read books and magazines at the beach.

Headed back to hotel and did some wash up before going to Banzaan Fresh Market for lunch. The most interesting thing was shopping and negotiating for seafood at the market as if you were a local. Honestly, it was a rash thing to buy seafood like lobsters, crabs, prawns and clams since they were so fresh yet in affordable price. We bought some veggies as well and went upstairs to get them done (1750 bahts). The first thing to do was not looking for a food stall but buying a card as they were doing something like central payment for all the food stalls.

We decided to get the seafood done by 'Your Kitchen' (480 bahts). When the dishes came, they just blew us away! They all smelled and tasted fabulous! The sauce for the crabs were so beautiful that we kept mixing and eating them with rice.

With two big and satisfying tummies, we were ready to go to our next destination which we were longing for - a villa! Yes! Finally we were staying in where people usually pick for a vacation! (Provided that we were pretty tight in budget all the time for travelling, we could only afford to spend one night in this luxurious villa) Since it was quite away from the city centre and we were going to spend most of our time in the villa, we bought heaps of snacks, drinks and beers in Big C beforehand. (1120 bahts)

Made our way back to our budget hotel, packed all our belongings and drove all the way to the most exquisite villa we had ever stayed so far - Sala Phuket Resort and Spa (HKD2355/ night)

The villa was such a stunner! Flowers, welcome drinks, excellent steward service, stunning rose petals on the bed, private pool, an open bath tub... That was a dream place we were looking for in Phuket. It was just perfect for couple to enjoy a romantic getaway! (And a great place to count down to our big day!) I remembered spending almost half and hour just walking around and taking photos in excitement. We were worried about the mosquitoes but thankfully we were provided with repellents and coils, so it wasn't a big issue.

Toured around the villa and found that there were quite a lot of thing that we could do: a romantic candlelight dinner, yoga lessons, beach balls... But we did none.

Were starving again and drove to a nearby arcade for dinner. Turtle village was just 5-minutes ride away catering mainly (I guess no one would drive all the way there) a few hotels nearby such as Anantara, Marriott, Renaissance and Holiday Inn.

Once we got into the arcade, there was a staff popping up and trying to introduce a club membership to us. He told us to just spend an hour the next day touring around Anantara Resort and we would get a free tour to Phi Phi and Maya Islands (worth 2500 bahts each) or tickets to Phuket FantaSea Show with buffet dinner (worth 2200 bahts), not necessarily joining the membership. It was quite attractive and as long as we didn't have much to do the next day but staying in our lovely villa, we got the deal.

There were not much choices for food in Turtle Village. We ate at The Coffee Club (550 bahts). The PadThai dish was awesome.

There was a supermarket downstairs but we didn't buy anything as we were quite well prepared before moving into the villa.

There were quite a few shops selling local stuffs and souvenirs. After an hour window shopping, had a dessert at Swensens. We only ordered one (190 bahts) as we both were not sweet-tooth.

Back to our lovely villa and had a swim. Candles, alcohol and snacks! What a fabulous night to spend with my love.
