Trip to Malaysia Day 2, 1st stop - Penang

10/8/2011

Itinerary of today:
Tune Hotel
Old Town Cafe
Kek Lok Si Temple
Penang Hill
Gurney Drive

Got up early the next day and had an awesome breakfast in the Old Town Cafe. There are many branches all over Penang with food in reasonable price. Breakfast is only MYR9.8/ set.
the cold chocolate and white coffee are must try items

Then headed to Kek Lok Si Temple by bus 201 in the bus terminal called Komtar. It took about 20 minutes to get there. Lots of traditional buildings to see. (MYR2/ person)

After spending 3 hours there, we took bus 204 to Penang Hill. (Return ticket MYR30/ person) The bus station was near 7-eleven. Penang Hill is one of the oldest colonial hill station established by the British during their time in Malaysia. It is the highest point in Penang. The Peak tram is just similar to the one in Hong Kong, but of coz the view is not as great as it.

Took bus 304 to Gurney Drive. There were lots of choices of food in Gurney Drive with plenty of food stalls. But we had another good choice instead. Had dinner in the Oriental Seafood restaurant. The mantis prawns were one of the highlights. They were giant and fresh. Visited the night market there. Lots of local stuffs but our interest was not there.
around MYR120 for the dinner

Total expenses for 2 =MYR215.6
Old Town Cafe             MYR9.8 X2 =MYR19.6

Penang Hill                  MYR30 X2 =MYR60

  1. I loved visiting Penang, such amazing street art and gorgeous little streets to get lost around.

    1. Love that too! There's a TV show about it in Hong Kong. Unfortunately, Ernest did this right after our trip. Should definitely go and take a look next time!
