Bali getaway Day 4

12/8/2015

Itinerary of today:
Breakfast @Favehotel Seminyak
Car rental
Nusa Dua Peninsula Island
Water Blow
Bali Collection
Lunch @Coco Bistro
Tea @The Pirate Bay Bali
Dinner @Made’s Warung Seminyak
Massage @La Karma Spa

Headed to Nusa Dua today, which was claimed to be one of the richest part of Bali according to our drivers since it is known as an enclave of large 5-star resorts in southern part of Bali.

On the way to Nusa Dua, we passed by a fire station and wanna sneak a peek at it. The firemen there were so friendly inviting us to take photos with the fire engines. We talked about the difference between their work and ours in Hong Kong. Kinda shock to know that sometimes it took them quite a long time to reach the scene as one station caters quite a large area with traffic jam happens all the time.

Gradually got close to Nusa Dua and could already feel that it sounded more superior than the rest of Bali- its enclave has three manned gates and everyone entering is subject to a security search. Safe and favourable for the guests but is it too much for other tourists or even locals visiting there?

The first place we visited was Water Blow. We were excited about the power of nature as well as the water. There was a large narrowing gap at the cliff facing the Indian Ocean catching in the waves and slamming into the top as the waves rolled and hit the cliff.

With the strong wind on that day, I got wet with big water drops from huge turbulent waves dashing on my face.

The deep, long beach here was glorious with fine white sand. Unfortunately, we didn't plan to swim there.

Lunch was done at Bali Collection since we didn't want to spend much on food in 5-star hotels there. Restaurants were plenty and price was reasonable. A diverse choice of international food could suit any tastes. We decided to walk around first and found most of the shops there were in up-market type but still a supermarket selling cheap goods could be found there.

Finally we settled in Coco Bistro. We ordered Indonesian food (even there were lots of international options).  With fantastic food and great atmosphere, we tried to invite our drivers to join us but they turned us down politely only letting us to get drinks for them. (Rp298870) Anyway, had a nice one chit-chatting with them and knew more about the places and history of Bali.

First time seeing coins in Bali! Big number with tiny value though.

Our drivers suggested us to spend the afternoon in the turtle island. We needed to buy an extra entrance ticket with the money going to the reservation fund. (Rp20000/ person) The driver drove us the BMR dive and water sports and it cost USD30/ person. Of course it was over-priced and our driver helped us got a deal at Rp250000/ person in the end. Still not cheap but anyway we went ahead.

Was in low tide at that moment and we had to walk across the seaweeds to get on our boat.

And another 15 minutes walk after we got off the boat due to low tide.

The turtle was a bit different from what we expected. We were thinking of turtles slowly walking everywhere around the beach, laying eggs, hatchling and swimming in the water and we could get unique experience on all of these. But actually, it was kinda like an aqua farm. We both couldn't hide our disappointment at the very first beginning, yet we still tried to keep on seeing and taking photos with turtles in different ages.

Our disappointment faded out after we saw some other special animals that we could seldom have close up experience with! Those were bats! The staff invited us in to hold them but we didn't dare to do so.

Dazing lizard which didn't move since we had got into the cage.

Eagle on his shoulder and on my hand. Could feel how strong it was grabbing us with its claws.

Cute Toucan with big beak but it never bites.

Scary snake but it was trained to be tame. Didn't remember where to get the courage to put it on our shoulders.

An hour was definitely enough for this turtle island in wrong season. We hopped on our boat again and headed back to Nusa Dua. Oh! I forgot to talk about the glass bottom boat. Claimed to be seeing turtles swimming under the sea in high tide and high season.

Planned to have afternoon tea at The Pirates Bay Bali but our drivers have never heard about it. They asked some locals for the location but failed to get the answer. Finally, another driver was able to tell us the way to get there.

It was a good place to hang out and chill together with your family or your friends with the beauty of the Nusa Dua beach making it so perfect. The tree houses were incredible, the food was delicious, beverage was fresh and they were both well priced. Highly recommend avocado juice. We got lots of great photos there as well. Well, just wanna say I really love this place. (Rp115000)

Read online that there are parties and the atmosphere is even better at night. Probably can go there again during our next visit.

Our drivers then drove us back to Seminyak. Considering the fact that we wanna have massage again, we let the drivers leave early and had dinner nearby at Made's Warung. Once more, cheap food yet good quality. Entertainment programme showing traditional dance performance was offered while dinner time. We were unable to get a good table without reservation, but still the staff got us one close enough to watch the performance. Had a great time there with authentic Balinese food.
