Ad hoc Sabah Trip Day 5

25/5/2015

Itinerary of today:
Breakfast @FongIp Cafe (馮業)
Shangri La Tanjung Aru Resort
Airport

It was finally our last day in Sabah. Actually we had no plans for today as our flight back to Hong Kong was at 11:30am. Luckily, Sabah is so small that the airport was just 10-15 minutes away from the city centre. We had plenty of time to enjoy our breakfast even we needed to arrive at the airport an hour and a half in advance.

Read blogs online and saw that Shangri La Tanjung Aru Resort was highly recommended by lot of tourists. It was pretty close to the airport and we would pass by anyway, so we decided to go and have a look. Being a 5-star hotel, the environment was just perfect for all ages. It was a wonderful place to unwind and relax. It also has it's own private pier for islands tour but should be in a higher fare. Though the resort was quite attractive, I don't find it suitable for me since I seldom stay in the hotel for a long time while travelling. A comfy one to sleep and shower with reasonable price would be fine.

Headed to the airport and took a photo with our buddy car. The owner asked us to open the window a little bit and drop the keys inside as he was not free to pick it up on that day. We were so happy to finish this first part of our trip with the tier of flight ticket promotion.

But things thrilling always happen when you are too excited. We offloaded all our things except Lawrence's bag with our passports inside! We were both scared to death since we may not only be able to catch our flight, but also lose our UK + Amsterdam trip by giving up the first tier of the ticket! 90 minutes until departure and Lawrence ran into the airport quickly to seek help. The worst case may probably be calling the police, breaking the window and pay for the damage of the car.
At last, this guy saved our lives! He used a ruler to get the keys out! He was such an angel for us! We wanna give him some money in return but he refused to get it. What a great man! I will never forget about this memorable experience that we had been through in Sabah.

Planned to have a carefree time to write the postcards while waiting at the airport but ended up doing it in the queue at the check-in counters.

Time to go home. Meals on board by Malaysia Airlines were pretty good!
